The short version: Training Minds: Toddler Edition collects nothing. All data your child generates — progress, scores, photos, recordings — stays on your device. We have no servers that receive it, no analytics that measure it, and no way to access it.

1. Who we are

Training Minds LLC is a limited liability company organized under the laws of New Jersey. Our contact address is sandra@trainingminds.co.

2. What data we collect — and what we do not

We collect nothing. The app does not:

  • Create user accounts or require registration of any kind
  • Transmit any information to Training Minds servers
  • Use analytics SDKs (no Firebase, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar)
  • Use advertising SDKs or display ads of any kind
  • Track your location
  • Collect device identifiers, IP addresses, or usage telemetry
  • Share any information with third parties

3. What data stays on your device

The app stores the following data locally — in your device's browser storage (localStorage and IndexedDB) — and nowhere else:

  • Child profile: the child's first name, age in months, and UI preferences (theme, language, lesson speed)
  • Progress data: per-lesson mastery history and accuracy statistics
  • Familiar Faces photos: photos you choose to add via the Familiar Faces feature; stored in IndexedDB, never transmitted
  • Name Recording: an optional short audio clip of your child's name, stored in IndexedDB, never transmitted
  • Calibration settings: screen calibration measurements from initial device setup

None of this data leaves your device under any circumstances, including normal app use, background activity, or app updates.

4. Backup and device transfer

The app offers a device transfer feature. When you use it:

  • A compressed, encrypted backup of your local data is generated entirely on your device
  • You may choose to save this backup as a file or generate a short transfer code
  • Transfer codes are routed through a temporary relay operated by Training Minds; the relay holds the payload for less than 10 minutes and is discarded immediately upon pickup or expiration
  • The relay has no knowledge of the content — data is encrypted before it leaves your device
  • Training Minds does not retain any backup files or transfer payloads

5. Camera and microphone

Several features use your device's camera or microphone:

  • Live Mirror: displays the front camera as a live preview on screen so your child can see themselves. The video feed is processed locally and is never recorded or transmitted.
  • Body Check: uses the front camera with on-device pose detection to help your child identify body parts. No video is recorded or transmitted.
  • My Video / Name Recording: records a short clip of your child's name. Stored locally in IndexedDB. Never transmitted.
  • Familiar Faces: accesses the camera so you can add family photos. Photos are stored locally. Never transmitted.

Camera and microphone permissions are requested only when you navigate to a feature that requires them. Declining has no effect on other parts of the app.

6. Children's privacy (COPPA)

Training Minds: Toddler Edition is designed for children under 13. We comply fully with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and with applicable state children's privacy laws.

Because we collect no information from any user — child or adult — our COPPA compliance is structural. There is no personal information to collect, share, or delete. No verifiable parental consent is required because we collect nothing.

If you believe we have inadvertently received information from a child, contact us at sandra@trainingminds.co and we will investigate promptly.

7. Third-party services

The app is delivered as a Progressive Web App (PWA). Hosting is provided by Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may log standard HTTP access logs (IP address, URL, timestamp) as part of ordinary web infrastructure operation. These logs are governed by Cloudflare's Privacy Policy and are not accessible to Training Minds LLC for the purpose of identifying individual users.

The app itself contains no third-party SDKs, no external scripts, and makes no outbound network requests after the initial page load (other than loading cached audio and image assets from Cloudflare's CDN).

8. Audio content

Professional voice recordings used in the app are produced by ElevenLabs and served as pre-generated audio files. The app plays these files locally; no audio is streamed in real time during use. No speech recognition or voice processing is performed on user audio.

9. Your rights

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it at all times:

  • Access: all data is readable in the app's Settings → App → Data section
  • Export: use the backup feature to export all data as a file
  • Delete: use Settings → Reset Everything to erase all app data from your device, or clear site data in your browser settings
  • Portability: backup files are in standard formats and can be inspected

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the updated version here with a revised effective date. Because we collect no contact information, we cannot notify you by email; we recommend bookmarking this page. Material changes will also be noted in the app itself.

Plain English: Use the app honestly and don't try to break it or redistribute it. Your data stays on your device. We're not liable for outcomes beyond our control. New Jersey law applies to disputes.

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using Training Minds: Toddler Edition (the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App. These Terms apply to use of the App as a Progressive Web App at trainingminds.co and at training-minds-toddler.pages.dev, and to any future distribution on app stores.

2. Who may use the App

The App is intended for use by parents and legal guardians on behalf of children ages 18 months through 4 years. By using the App you represent that you are the parent or legal guardian of any child who interacts with the App, or that you have the legal authority to consent on that child's behalf.

3. License

Training Minds LLC grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the App for personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms.

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or distribute the App or its contents
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Use the App for any commercial purpose without our written consent
  • Remove or obscure any proprietary notices in the App
  • Use the App in any manner that could damage, disable, or impair our services

4. Local data and storage

The App stores data exclusively in your device's local storage (localStorage and IndexedDB). Training Minds LLC does not have access to this data and does not maintain copies of it. You are responsible for backing up your own data. We are not responsible for data loss due to browser storage clearing, device failure, OS updates, or any other cause.

5. No warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Training Minds LLC disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

  • The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
  • Any defects will be corrected
  • The App or its servers are free of viruses or other harmful components
  • The educational content will produce any particular developmental outcome in any particular child

The App is a supplementary educational tool. It does not replace professional developmental evaluation, speech-language therapy, or pediatric medical advice.

6. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TRAINING MINDS LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND CONTRACTORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CAUSE OF ACTION SHALL NOT EXCEED FIFTY DOLLARS ($50 USD).

7. Intellectual property

All content in the App — including text, audio recordings, images, graphics, software, and the Training Minds name and logo — is the property of Training Minds LLC or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks or branding.

8. App availability

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any feature at any time without notice. We will not be liable to you or any third party for any such modification, suspension, or discontinuation.

9. Third-party content and links

The App may reference or link to third-party websites or resources (such as app stores or research citations). We do not endorse and are not responsible for the content, products, or services of any third party.

10. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. The effective date at the top of this page reflects when the current version took effect.
